The Upper School Storage Room / Lower School Library

One librarian and two library paraprofessionals were eliminated from the Curley K-8 School's faculty and staff by a former principal, at the end of the 2010-11 school year. During the 2011-12 academic year, a team of volunteers maintained the lower school library, and did what could be done for the upper school library.

At the end of the 2012-13 school year, all books and resources from the lower school library were boxed and deposited in the upper school library. The lower school library became a classroom.

This is a photo is of the dozens of boxes, filling the the upper school library's storage room, containing the lower school library. It was was impossible to enter this room, as it was floor to ceiling boxes.

In late June 2016, a team of volunteers, organized by teacher Lindsey Wright, took the books out of the boxes, allowing the next round of volunteers to begin the process of sorting through and weeding the lower school collection. This was such a huge step in the process of revitalizing the school library!
